Erik Jennings - Head Roaster/Co-Founder
This is Erik. He's the Head Roaster at Red Giant and a lover of coffee and the community that surrounds it. For Erik, every day is a new opportunity to learn something new about coffee and the way that it is prepared, roasted, or brewed. Whether he is tracking data during the middle of a roast or he is behind bar preparing a drink, he dedicates a lot of time towards testing new ideas to bring out the full potential of our coffee. You could say that he's a bit obsessive, and it's especially evident in his attention to detail and quality. In his mind there's always room to improve, and he will strive for maximum potential to the last bean.
In his spare time you can find him playing his 3/4-size classical guitar, playing table top games with friends, and exploring the Bay Area in search of great food and drinks.
Anna Kachelries - Head of Operation/Designer/Co-Founder
Anna studies Biology in the Bay Area, and she has a deep appreciation for coffee. Her scientific interests and barista experience coalesce in the world of roasting coffee. She brings her own taste palate to the cupping table, and she’s endlessly curious about what makes coffee a beverage we all love. Anna prides herself on her ambition and eagerness to think outside of the box.
Jimmy Huang – CEO/Founder
Before starting Red Giant Coffee Roasters, Jimmy started a specialty coffee shop called Bliss Coffee in Redwood City. The shop is a multi-roasters café that serves Verve, Chromatic, and Heart. When Jimmy is not working on Red Giant, he is usually at the coffee shop tasting various offerings from these roasters.
Whether you drink it for the caffeine content, or for the warmth of a hot drink on a cold morning, or you're craving something sweet and savory, or you cherish the delicate floral flavors of a Gesha, people enjoy their coffee for different reasons. Any coffee can make a good cup as long as you get what you want from it.
Our goal here is not to define what a great cup of coffee should taste like. We simply aim to bring out a wide range of enjoyable, complex, and eccentric flavors in the coffees that we roast.
Jimmy has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 30 years. When he is not working on coffee, he likes to spend time with his wife and kids.
